The cologne translated into soap, in cartons printed with the same blue-and-gold devices as the flacon.
The presentation
Savon de Luxe Impériale carries the Impériale accord into a milled perfumed soap, so the scent can open the day at the washstand and be finished by the cologne. The two carton formats shown here repeat the flacon's ornament and lettering, which is why the line reads as one family on a shelf.
The scent is gentler than the cologne — the same citrus and orange-blossom signature, softened and lingering on the skin rather than lifting off it.
Historical context
Beyond cologne, the Boldoot works produced soaps, powders and toilet preparations: the house descended from a pharmacy, and the laboratory behind the shop had always made more than one thing.
Matching soap and cologne was also how a nineteenth-century house showed completeness — the same identity printed across every carton, so a customer recognised Boldoot before reading a word.
